Why heavy vehicles need their own wash system

It is tempting to treat a truck wash as a car wash scaled up. In practice the differences run deeper than the size of the arch, which is why heavy vehicle systems exist as their own category rather than a settings change.

The geometry is different

A coach or a rigid truck is a wall of panel several metres high, often carrying mirrors, aerials, decals and vents that a car never has. The machine has to reach the full height and follow long flat sides without losing contact or pressure, and it has to do so without catching anything that protrudes.

Fleets wash on schedules

Private cars arrive when their owners feel like it. Fleets wash on rotas: a depot may need every vehicle presentable by morning, which puts a premium on machines that run reliably back to back and are simple for depot staff to operate. Options like manual control matter here in a way they rarely do on a forecourt.

Contact is a choice here too

Heavy vehicle systems face the same touchless-or-brushes question as car systems, with an extra wrinkle: liveries and decals. Brush washing suits painted fleet panels; high-pressure washing without contact protects wrapped or decal-heavy vehicles. Mixed fleets often want a system that can do both.

If the vehicles earning your revenue are the ones being washed, the wash is part of the operation, not an amenity. It deserves the same specification care as any other piece of depot equipment.
